Privacy policy
Effective date:
In short: Bouteiller does not collect any data. The developer has no server involved in the operation of the app and receives nothing from it. The app communicates only with the Jenkins servers that you add yourself.
Who we are and what this policy covers
Bouteiller is an iPhone and iPad app published by Nicolas Mannocci, an individual developer (“the developer”). This policy covers version 1 of the app.
Data collected by the developer
None. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting service of its own and no third-party SDK. It has no account to create with the developer. The developer has no access to your servers, your credentials, your jobs or your usage of the app.
If you choose to share crash reports and usage data with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may make anonymized crash reports available to the developer through its tools; this is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your iOS settings.
Data stored on your device
To work, the app stores the following on your device only:
| Data | Where |
|---|---|
| API tokens of your Jenkins servers | iOS Keychain, shared only with the app’s own widgets. Tokens are never written to logs. |
| Server list (name, address, user name, option “reachable only through a VPN”, certificate you approved, if any, detected server capabilities) | App storage on the device, shared with the app’s widgets. |
| Favorite jobs and notification subscriptions | App storage on the device. |
| Cache of the last data received from your servers (jobs, builds, stages, tests, part of the console logs, queue), used to show the last known state when a server is unreachable | App storage on the device. It can be cleared in the app settings. |
| Settings (refresh intervals, log appearance, protection of actions, notification preferences) | App preferences on the device. |
Artifacts and logs that you download or export are placed in temporary files until you share or save them with the iOS share sheet.
Like the data of any app, these data may be included in the backups of your device (iCloud or computer) according to your iOS settings; the developer has no access to them. Bouteiller itself does not use iCloud.
Deleting a server in the app removes its token from the Keychain along with its favorites, subscriptions and cached data. Deleting the app removes its data; iOS may keep Keychain items after an app is deleted, so delete your servers first if you want to be sure that the tokens are erased.
Network connections
The app connects only to the Jenkins servers that you add, at the address you enter, using your user name and API token. These exchanges take place directly between your device and your servers, without passing through any server of the developer. They are protected by HTTPS, except for a server on the local network for which you explicitly allowed plain HTTP. The data exchanged with your Jenkins servers are governed by the policies of the organization operating them.
The “open in Safari” feature opens your Jenkins pages in Safari, outside the app.
Face ID, Touch ID and passcode
If you enable it, the app asks for Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode before sensitive actions (stopping a build, approving or rejecting an input). Authentication is performed entirely by iOS: the app only receives a success or failure answer and never has access to your biometric data.
Notifications
Notifications are local: the app checks your favorite jobs in the background, directly with your Jenkins servers, and the notifications are created on the device itself. No notification content passes through the developer or through a push service.
Tracking
The app does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, does not use the advertising identifier and does not share any data with data brokers.
Children
The app is a tool for software professionals and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Since the developer does not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is no data to access, correct or delete on the developer’s side. You control all the data described above from your device. For data held by your Jenkins servers, contact the organization operating them.
Changes to this policy
A future version of the app may add optional push notifications, sent by an optional plugin installed on your Jenkins server through a relay operated by the developer. This policy will be updated before such a feature is released, to describe precisely what the relay processes. The effective date at the top of this page will change with each update.
